Taking the animal metaphor onward and upward or downward because it should be Governor, Governor, Governor, Mayor...What is becoming an amusing game of criminal activity by those who lead us or lie to us or trick us into believing that they are actually our advocates is becoming way to popular. To be fair one of the Governors is actually being released from prison for what appears to be a political motivated prosecution by of all institutions but the Justice Department with a little help from it’s friend, Karl Rove. That’s ex-Governor Don Siegelman from Alabama, who was convicted in 2006 of bribery by an overzealous chief prosecutor, Louis Franklin, who bemoaned the release with a frown and a small tear in his eye. 44 former state attorney generals both Democratic and Republicans signed a petition that the conviction be looked into and Democrats in Alabama, who are by far the minority party, took to partying in the street because Mr. Siegelman is the goose in this game so they feel like the winners. Then there is the Governor of Puerto Rico, that 51st State we all want but they don’t, who was charged with 19 criminal counts of tax fraud and using campaign money to pay for vacations to Miami, Orlando and China, which is kind of strange since Puerto Rico is by far a better go to place than all of those places, but who can count on taste, he also spent about $57,000 on clothes and paid off his credit card bills. Governor Anibal Acevedo Vila decries the charges as politically motivated and totally false but doesn’t every politician claim the same. The other Governor, the one from New York, Eliot Spitzer, has been found out to have frequented another high priced house of disrepute and also of using his sway to find wrong doings of Republican honcho Bruno, which Eliot denied since some of his underlings were found to have used State Patrol and other such illegal dealings to frame Bruno, but lo and behold Eliot was involved up to area that was his original achilles heal, the place right below his waist. And then finally there is the Mayor of Detroit, a city that has been bilked to the far ends of the earth by everybody from politicians to street vendors, the Honorable (a preamble that is quickly losing it’s appeal) Mayor Kwane M. Kilpatrick, was charged with obstruction of justice, perjury and other felonies and pleaded again like the rest of those politicians who are found to be breaking the law that, they are supposed to be enforcing, the usual, “It’s false, false or maybe my memory is failing” or something like that. This all began again with another sexually charged revelation in January when The Detroit Free Press published excerpts from text messages that were sent between Kilpatrick and his Chief of Staff, a Ms. Beatty, that indicated that they were engaged in an extramarital affair. That is what is new in the world of Politics-A-Go-Go which maybe should be changed to Politics-A-No-No...
