The Sarah Palin story, or is it a fantasy, is playing out big time in America and it has barely begun. It was good to hear two major conservative pundits, Peggy Noonan and Mike Murphy, tell the truth about what Republicans really think about Palin, Miss Congeniality and former sportscaster, although they did not know their microphones were on, and I’m sure there will be days of backpedaling to explain what they really meant by saying “it’s over”. It is dizzying how many times it has been said that Republican base is electrified by the choice of having a new mother, the mother of a daughter who will be a mother, a mother of a son who will go at the age of 18 to Iraq to fight the real fight, as the savior of their party. The Republicans say that Sarah has more experience than Barack does? But if you look at the facts this isn’t close to being true, she was a mayor of a town of 5000 even though the Republicans like to stretch that to 10,000 because that is the population now; Barack Obama lived on a block that had more people than that, she is the Governor of a state that has the population of a small city and although the Republican spin machine keeps saying she has been the governor for two years, it’s really only been 20 months and she really hasn’t made any major decisions except give every person in Alaska a check for about 2000 dollars for oil profits and quickly these cash happy populace were polled and gave her an 80% approval rating. She has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Idaho, a party college in Moscow, Idaho. She also attended two other smaller schools one in Hawaii and the other in northern Idaho. Her husband doesn’t have a college degree and unless there is major intervention it doesn’t look like her oldest son or daughter will either. Glenn Beck in his loud-mouthed way said it best when he yelled at the camera on CNN and said describing why Americans need Palin and love him, “I’m this close to being white trash, and actually I am white trash as are a lot of Americans”. And this is the best candidate the Republicans could find in a world that they keep telling us is more dangerous than anytime in history, in a world that needs experience to deal with the likes of Putin, Bin Laden, China, Pakistan, Iran, North Korea and on and on and on, but really all Americans need is to have this woman, who like Glenn Beck said admiringly is like him white trash, to be the President of the United States if anything happens to McCain? It’s laughable! Again the spin is that the Republican base was electrified by her speech, (which was written for her and not vetted by her which is not what the McCain campaign deems necessary.) but I kind of think they were electrocuted into a numb of nothingness. Isn’t this the party who has always put up the candidate that has the most experience that can handle the big decisions? It’s scary that the Republicans could find no one other in their party more qualified than the “barracuda”. Please let us hope that the Heart song doesn’t start playing every time she is introduced. I find it amazing that smart Republican operatives are saying that Palin has more foreign experience than Barack because Alaska is close to Russia? And that she has made more executive decisions because she was a mayor and a governor and Barack is only a Senator, I agree, but then again if that’s the point she’s made more executive decisions than Senator McCain, too. Maybe she should be running for President? And that these same Republicans are comparing her to Hillary Clinton the most vetted politician in the history of the world with a woman that went through a fifteen-minute interview by Senator McCain is laughable; And finally, that woman, being woman, will support her because she is a woman, is so palpably demeaning it’s outrageous. This was a horrible decision by McCain, the first most important decision he has made to become the President of United States, what can we expect in the future…
